BRET CARR
Bret Carr first came to national
attention with a series of controversial internet shorts that
made him filmmaker of the month on the cover of the Hollywood
Reporter. After satirizing the violence of "Passion" with
his “Passion of the Heist,” Carr again garnered
national attention with the parody"Farenheit6911" and
the post Oscar, "The Gay After Tomorrow". Carr
began his committment to integrating his creativity with causes
that need to be addressed when he worked on the street as a
painter. Carr sued the city of Santa Monica and helped changed
the law so street artists now have a right to express their
first amendment rights and charge for their work.
Carr's dream is coming to fruition with REVOLOUTION and the grass roots outreach of FCH. "Revolution is a film about kids overcoming their fears, the challenges of life and facing personal demons that we all carry with us. Its the story of a personal journey - my personal journey- from rejection to redemption. And the remarkable fact is that kids all over the country are reponding to it because it resonates with them and their lives. And, its the first time a film has been distributed with one goal -- raise awareness and funds for charities"
The idea for FCH was planted when Dennis Johnson, the warden of Cincinatti's Teen Felony facility was so moved by a screening of REVOLOUTION that he got it approved by State Judge Ripps and the superintendent of the schools, so he could share it with his inmates.
As a filmmaker, Bret creating stories and sharing myths with media that bring audiences possibilities.
