what viewers are saying...

Here are a few quotes from views who attended RevoLOUtion, the Movie during its recent New York debut:

Hi, I’m Mitchell and I am twelve years old. I am speaking today on behalf of a movie that has really inspired me. The movie is Revoloution. The movie is about a man who has constantly made bad decisions up until a point where he is forced to confront his childhood trauma and try to turn himself into the great powerful communicator that he longs to be. Because of a stutter he has only been able to express himself through the use of his fists. I don’t want to reveal anymore about the movie until everyone has seen it.For me my stutter is in my hand. You see I have a disability called D.C.D. which makes it very hard for me to use my motor skills to their full potential.

Now because the teachers lacked the education and flexibility that was required for them to understand my particular needs. From their minds they saw that I was very bright but often slow to work they assumed that I was lazy or just a day-dreamer. Eventually, after much work on my mom’s part it was discovered that I had Developmental Coordination Disorder. I finally was able to overcome my challenge by learning to type. It also helped for me to leave the crippling environment of main stream school where difficulties and or differences were not acceptable. For me personally it was a big challenge that made me at many times come close to giving up. But I think for most of us the biggest challenge is growing up in a world like this is. One that at many times will make us feel that it is nearly impossible to reach our goals.

RevoLoution has been something I could easily relate to and has inspired me to help suffering kids. Through that I am raising awareness to the fact that kids do suffer from emotional pain. I am full confident that this movie will inspire many young minds out there like it has me; so that we can get out of the ruts we’re stuck in and show everyone that we have real potential. I feel very lucky that I got the chance to see RevoLOuton. I am glad to know I am not the only one. I first saw RevoLoution in a private screening and I will admit that it was hard to watch at times. I think that this is mostly because I could understand Lou and I knew what he must be going through. After the screening the audience was asked to respond to the movie and give their thoughts and feelings. I felt compelled to speak up and tell them how much I felt connected to it.

RevoLOution inspired me to start creating a website to help connect kids at risk, to each other so that they may offer advice and maybe receive some. The other goal of my website is to help lessen the feeling of isolation that many teens and pre-teens feel about their situation. That they face their challenges alone. Many others out there are going through similar difficulties. For now it may just be a website, maybe later it might grow into something bigger. All I know is that RevoLoution has done so many great things for me. Not just the movie but the people behind it.

Thank You RevoLoution team.
Mitchell, Age 12

Hi,
Our teens were quite moved by the movie. They came back from the film and told me they loved me and have invited all their friends to a Wednesday screening.

I got to spend time with several of our female teens while waiting for their parents to pick them up and they opened up like I had never seen before. Even our "tough" guy skater was seen crying and he and his parents spoke over the weekend.

I'm going to try to go this time to see what inspired these changes.
Thanks for the opportunity,
Anna

From Watts:
"Thanks a million for the opportunity and for planning out the teen movie outing. We spent time with the producer and the actors after the film and it was great. We have to do more activities like this for the teens. Thanks again"

I am a retired LAUSD school nurse, who in my day filed hundreds of child abuse reports.  I saw first hand the damage done to children.  (Not so much concern by me was the temporary physical abuse, but the long term mental abuse.)  I feared these children might always have low self-esteem and eventually, when parents, continue the abuse cycle.

About two months ago I saw a private screening of a new movie RevoLOUtion.  The story is about a young semi-professional boxer who was abused as a child by his father.  In the movie he demonstrates a poor self image and stutters severely.  He addresses, with help from a friend, his childhood pain and emerges as a delightful,  non-stuttering, powerful communicator who beecomes a 'light' to his neighborhood, especially young male teens.  A powerful story of how an individual can 'break the cycle of abuse' in his life.  I know personally that forgiveness, of one's own mistakes and of others' mistakes and judgments, is the way to personal and community peace.  This movie demonstrates this process so beautifully!

I truly wish everyone would see this inspirational movie; especially, since everyone has experienced some form of child abuse, even if only a parent or teacher having once said, "You are stupid".
